"Social media profile: your interests"

My name is Francisco González and I'm going to talk about two of my main interests. These are two activities that I really like doing. I don't know if you also like these acyivities, but let's start!

One of my main interests is sport. I like both playing and watching sport, especially basketball. I've liked basketball since I was a child, because I think that it's a very exciting sport. I don't usually play basketball, because I don't have enough time. I also like watching basketball and volleyball on TV.

My other interest is drawing. Drawing is completely different from sport, but I like it too. Every summer, when I have a lot of time, I try to draw some difficult drawing, like some characters or other types of things. I like drawing because I think that it's an very enjoyable activity and I also like looking at the final drawing.

Between these activities, I prefer sport because it's a more practical activity than drawing, and when you play a sport like basketball and you are playing with your friends, you spend better time than drawing, so I prefer playing basketball.

 We are in a situation that we didn't get in before, we have been locked down for some months and now we can go out, but we can't do the same things as before.

Nowadays, we can't go to concerts without a face-mask, and with fewer people,but not only this. We can't go anywhere without our face-mask, I understand that it's for our own health and to make the number of infected people decrease, but in my opinion, it's nonsense that we must wear a face-mask if we go for walk in the countryside with our family, or if we go cycling with our friends.

Although we must follow all the security measures that the government says, and we don't do crazy things, like going to concerts or parties without face-mask, and think that if we follow all the measures everything will be okay.

This year, we are missing out loads of things, like festivities, like Santa Ana in Molvizar. We couldn´t celebrate anything this year, but also, we are missing out something more personal, like friends' birthdays, or even meetings with relatives.

But, nowadays we aren´t following the security measures, for example, you can watch on TV that there are a lot of people that go to concerts, or to parties without protection, like face-masks, and almost everybody that goes to the parties without protection are young people, and, in my opinion, they should think about all the people that can get infected because they decided go to a party without face-mask.

The FOMO is a very interesting fear, and I think that it affects a lot of people that think like this, and I reckon, that they may be right, because this year we don't do the same things as other years, and it will be unpleasant to a lot of people, but we must continue like this until we can have our normal lives back.

What will jobs and learning be like in the future?

In my opinion in the future we will do a lot of things with technology, for example, the hardest jobs like working in the fields. This work will probably be done by robots, and the jobs like working in an office will be done by teleworking from your own house.

In my opinion, it could be good, because I think that if you work in an office, you will be quieter if yo work from your home. As well, this could reduce pollution as not so many people would need to get to their jobs by car, and they would pollute less.

Talking about learning, I think that one day it would be all online, but I reckon that you learn more and better if you are going to face-to-face classes because you are more attentive than in online classes.

So I think that the technology will be an important thing in our future, especially in the jobs that we will get.

Virtual classes can never beat in-person classes

Nowadays, we must take virtual classes, because of the pandemic, and it is very different from the in-person classes that we used to have. And in my opinion having in-person classes are better than having virtual classes, and here are my reasons.

One reason why I think that our traditional classes are the best way to have classes, is because if you are in front of the teacher, you pay more attention in class than if you are in your house, because in your house you can distract with everything and there isn´t anybody to tell  you that you must pay attention in the class.
Another reason is that if you are with the teacher you can ask him all your questions, altough you can also ask your questions in virtual classes, but in these classes the teacher can´t explain well your question, because you can only hear him.
And of course all the Internet error that you can have, and if you have an Internet error you can´t go into the virtual classes and you miss an explanation.

And for these reasons I prefer go to in-person classes, altough if we had our regular classes these days, we would have lots of exams.

What's the future...?

Nowadays, we have to follow the measures to fight the COVID-19, and if we follow these measures, we will be able to give time to scientists until they can find a vaccine against this virus. Now, we can´t do any other thing because if we don´t follow these measures, we will make an increase in the number of infected people  or even in the number of deaths, and we don´t want these consequences.
In Granada, we are still in the phase 1, while in other provinces they are already in phase 2, but we can do some things that before we couldn´t do, for example, we can go with our friends, or we can visit our family.
Now restaurants can open, and a lot of people go to eat there, they must follow the measures, but you can eat well in these places, and I can understand why the government allows the restaurants to open. That is  because there are a lot of families that must eat from this business.

In my opinion we need a lot time until we can recover our old way of life, without measures, without security distance, and of course, without masks! But now, we need follow all the measures that the government gives us, and think that everything will be okay

Hi David,

How are things? You´ll never guess what happened to me and Matias a few weeks ago! We went for a walk around the town and we were chatting when suddenly, we saw a man running with a big bag, and an old woman was running after him. First we didn´t know what was happening, but eventually we understood that it was a mugging. Obviously, we tried to stop him because he was running too fast.

Luckily, Matias had his mobile, so he called the police. We waited for a long time with the old woman, and she looked really bad. She told us that she came from the bank and there was a lot of money in this bag. Eventually, the police arrived and asked some questions to the old woman. Finally, the police left us, and then said that they were going to search or the criminal. We were in shock, it was the first time that we had seen a crime.

FATAL COMBINATION: Teleworking and no sport

Nowadays there are a lot of people that are teleworking, because we aren´t able to go to our work area, for example we can´t go to the Secondary School and for this reason our teachers must teach us by video conference, or for example people that work in an office are working at home. And of course this way of work have advantages and disadvantages.

The main advantage is that you are in your home, and you are more calmer and you are less stressed,but the main disadvantage is that you can´t go out to do anything, you only can go out to do some sport, or to go to the doctor, or to buy some things. But you can´t meet your friends in the streets, and you can enjoy talking with your friends. Another disadvantage is that you must stay a lot of hours in front of the screen, and for this reason you can feel bad and it can hurt your eyes.

Even if there are a lot of people teleworking, there are also some works that the workers can´t work through Internet, for example waiters, cooks, shop assistants... And now these people aren´t earning money, because they aren´t working. And a lot of families that earn money from these works  are now hungry.

In my opinion, the government has to make an effort and allow them return to their works if they can´t do teleworking.

Videogames can make you violent. Do you agree?

Whereas our grandparents and even our parents didn´t play videogames when they were young,  today,  videogames are one of the most important things in our free time.

And as result od its fame, the people talk more about this way to spend the free time, even though the news rarely speak about this issue. However, a few weeks ago  I read a piece of news about it, and it said that if you play some types of videogames you become violent, and I don´t agree at all with this opinion.

I don´t think that if you play videogames you will have a more violent attitude, but I also think taht there are videogames that will make you violent if you play long hours. But all the videogames that contain violence aren´t designed for children. They are aimed to older public.  And if you children play a violence videogame it´s your problem, because the company establishes an  age restriction. 

Describing a celebration

My grandmother lives in a residence for the elderly, and here they celebrate the birthdays in a special way. 

Here they celebrate a special party called `Cumplemes´, and if you have some questions I´m going to explain what this celebration is about. They join all the birthdays that are in a month, there are a lot, and they celebrate all the birthdays of the month on only one day.

All the people say that this party is fantastic, but I only went one time and the party was so fantastic!

The day of the party was sunny. First there was music and you can dance on dance floor, here were lots of couples of elderly men and women dancing. You could also sing and even play different instruments.
Later on, everybody went to a large table and there they had lunch, the food was so delicious, especially the cake, which was made by one grandson of one old man, and he was such a good cook.
After all these things I was too tired to continue the day.

Matias: I haven´t organised the game yet

Fran: No problem, I have a lot of boards games in my house, I can search for some of them 

Matias: Good, I don´t have any board games and I was very worried about the things that we could do when we finished the picnic

Fran: What about food and drinks?

Matias: I will carry some bottles of Coca-Cola. But I don´t know what food to bring 

Fran: Can I help you decide what to get?

Matias: Yes, please

Fran: What about pizzas and some types of biscuits?

Matias: That´s a good idea. Could you ask  a Take-away restaurant to make a pizza?

Fran: OK

Matias: Well, would you come to the supermarket and help me buy the biscuits?

Fran: Of course, here we go!

Describing a local dish

I live in Molvizar, south Spain, and we have some delicious local food, for example our dish called `Migas´.

A traditional dish of Migas consists of little balls of flour with garlics, meat, usually longaniza, or with some types of fish. Then they are friedin a frying pan with a little oil all the things.

`Migas´are usually served hot with melon, pomegranate or on their own, and eat with a spoon.

Nowadays, you can eat `Migas´on special days and they are usually cokked by the local authorities and they are given away to all the people.
You can eat `Migas´here in the south o Spain, and in my village they have been cokked for many years and almost everybody can cook them, but there are a lots of ways to cook them!    

Is the CORONA VIRUS really the solution to CLIMATE CHANGE?

Nowadays, climate change is the biggest problem that we have in the world, even though we are having an epidemic of corona virus, and all the people are giving a lot of importance to this epidemic, and they forget the biggest problem that the world has. And when this epidemic disappears, they won´t give the same importance to the climate change as they give to this epidemic, because they think that it won´t affect them, they think that it will affect  the future generation.

The corona virus is a very bad incident, becasue it is killing a lot of pepole in the world, but it is doing a good thing, it is reducing our emissions a lot. And it is clearing the air in some places where there was a lot of pollution, like some places in China or India.

In my opinion, it shows how we can fight against the climate change, and we can weaken this big problem, and I say weaken, because in the point that we are now, we can´t make that the climate change disappear at all. The pollution decreases because of the corona virus because we use a lot less the vehicles, we must stay at home, and a lot of factories have closed because the people can´t work.

Fran: Give me the black case. What it is made of?

Assistant: It´s made of plastic and rubber. Oh and it comes with headphones

David: Hi, I´m going to sing up at a tennis club in August and I need a couple. Why don´t you play with me?

Fran: I haven´t  played tennis in my whole life! You should play with a person who plays tennis well

David: I don´t know anyone who plays tennis 

Fran: If I were you, I would go to the sports centre in Salobreña and  search  for a person who plays tennis 

David: Well, I don´t want to go to Salobreña. Let´s play together 

Fran: Ok, but you must teach me how to play

David: How about going to the sports centre tomorrow?

Fran: That´s a great idea!

David: Well, see you tomorrow!

The future of humanity in our hands

Nowadays we are in quarantine, and we don´t go to the school and we can´t even go out for a walk, or to meet my friends, and we must stay all day at home, doing homework that the teachers send us.

I am trying to do all the things that I should do if we were in class, I´m doing the exercises, and I´m trying to study all the subjects. Doing all the exercises at home isn´t easy, because there isn´t anyone to teach us how to do these exercises, but luckily we have the e-mail of some teachers and we can ask them if we have any question.

As they say, we have the future in our hands, and for this reason we mustn´t to go out, because if we go out, more people will get infectedand they don´t want to have many infected people in hospitals because they haven´t enough beds for everybody.

This isn´t the first pandemic of the history, for example in the 1918 there was the pandemic of the Spanish Flu, and as this pandemic the people could see the growth of the illness, but they didn´t take measures about this illness and it transformed in a pandemic.

In my opinion, the only thing that we can do is stay in our homes, and listen to the doctors and pay attention to the doctors and everything will be fine

Covid-19 strikes St Patrick's festivities!!!

St. Patrick day is a celebration that is celebrated on 17th March, and it is most popular celebration  in Ireland. The most important symbol of this celebration is the shamrock.

I know about this celebration when my sister went to Dublin in 2016, she went on the English study school trip. Before I hadn´t heard anything about this celebration. When she returned from Dublin she brought some souvenir and all of them have a shamrock with them. I didn´t know why they all had a shamrock and I asked her, and she told me that shamrock is the national symbol of Ireland and, of course, of Dublin.

This celebration is celebrated all the years, but this year it has been cancelled because of COVID-19, as many other celebrations as the Fallas of Valencia, or for the example the E3, the bigger conference of videogames in the world that  is celebrated in Los Angeles.

In my opinion, cancelling all these celebrations was the only thing that they could do, if we didn´t want to have more infected people and for this reason it had to be cancelled.

In our days privacy isn´t the same as before, before the people didn´t know when you went to a place, or when you did something, but now you put all your information in the social network, for example when you go on holiday to the beach you put some photos of you in the beach in social networks like Instagram, Facebook or Twitter, and we even arrive a to such a level that we even upload photos of the food we eat and there are people that are obsessed with take a photo of all the food that they get.

I think that it can be good that we are watched, but in some societies like China they have cameras in their streets. All this means that people lose their privacy because there is always someone watching you what you are doing in the street with a camera. I don´t  agree with this thing, because I think that we need some privacy policy.

Would you go on a trip around the world?

I have never travelled to another country in my whole life, but I think that travelling must be fantastic because it can help you, for example,to relax, to forget all the problems of the day by day. You can also learn about other cultures like the Asian culture.

As I have just written, I haven´t been to any other country, and I think that is for this reason that I don´t like travelling at all. I think that it must be very tiring, and you need a lot of money. Besides you need to be able to speak other languages, at least you must be able to speak English because it is the most recognised lenguage in the world. However, it is not the most spoken language

In the future I will  go to some countries, but the country that I would  most like to go is Japan, because I think that they have a very interesting culture and some landscapes are very beautiful. As well, I would visit some Japanese cities like Okinawa, Kyoto and Akihabara.

I don´t have an opinion about all these issues because I have never travelled in my life, but in the future I want to travel more.

2020, a leap year

A leap year is a year like this year, we have one day more in February, having for this reason 366 days, not 365 like any other ordinary year. A leap year happens every 4 years, and as the Earth take 365 days and 6 hours, each fourth year we add 6 hours resulting into a total addiction of 24 hours, making this day added in February.

Nowadays it is an  averange day that we make the same thing as the other days, but in the past they think that this day was a bad luck day and this resulted into the fact that everybody considered this kind of years very unlucky.

In my opinion, nowadays it is the same if we have one more day or if we have a day less, because in our society we are used to doing the same thing. We think that we need to celebrate this day, because I think that it is a special day that only takes place each 4 years.

Love? It is just a matter of choosing the right partner.

St. Valentine's day is on 14th February and it is known as the day of the lovers. And for this reason some people know February as the month of love.
For me St Valentine's day isn't a special day because nowadays I don't have a partner and for the moment I am not interested in having one, because I think that in the future I will have time to have one.
On St. Valentine's day couples give each other flowers like roses and carnations, and other types of presents like chocolate and in some cases they give each other a teddy bear with a sentence of love.
In my case my favourite plant is cactus ,I don't know the reason, but it has been my favourite plant since I was a child and I have some cactuses in my house.
In my secondary school some girls of my class set up a stand where they sold roses, carnations and if you wanted you could send a letter to the person who you like and they went to give the letter to this person.
In my opinion this is a celebration that you can do if you are really in love with a person or if you have a partner.

Dear Granmum, 

I´m writing to you to thank you for your advice about making new friends . Making friends isn´t easy. You know what I am like. I felt really lost at first, I didn´t know what to do when I was nex to a new partner. Now I make a lot of friends in my class and even I make best friends. First I told to a partner my problem, and now, he has been helping me a lot.

He introduced me to is friends, and they behaved well with me. At first, I found it difficult to join in. Your advice of talking some topycs and ask questions worked. They´ve showed me the town , we played videogames and I´m feeeling realy happy now!

No more pollution in our cities, please!!!

In our days, pollution is one of the most important problems we have. It can be produced by a lot of reasons, and we can´t stop it, we only can produce less pollution. There are a lot of people that they don´t realize that produce a lot of pollution, which can cause many problems too.
The reasons that we pollute a lot of is that all of us use the cars and in some occasion we can go to the place taking public transport, by bike or even walking. But we don´t think about it because it is more comfortable going by car and park in the door of the place.
Here in villages there are much less pollution than in cities, here we still have clean air, but it the cities there is a lot of pollution in the air, and for this reason if you are in a city you have more probabilities to have a health problem than if you are in a village.
In my opinion, we must decrease the use of car, and we need to use more transports like buses or even the bike.

Two days ago the United Kingdom left the European Union because of the brexit. Brexit, which is what happened after the people that live in the UK had to decided whether to leave the EU or to remain to the EU. The result of the referendum was that they wanted to leave the EU and as it was their wish, they left the EU on 31st January.
However, despite the fact that the UK has left the EU, the EU has confirmed the English will still the official language of the European Union, because this is still the most spoken language in the EU.
The decision to leave the EU was taken after while, but the Primer Minister in the UK didn´t want to leave the EU, althought he was the one who organized all the election. It is for this reason that it has taken them such a long time to carry out the decision taken.
I don´t think that it was a great idea because it is always safer if the EU can give you for example medicine, food, and if the UK had a problem the EU could help it. But now the UK needs to do all alone because it doesn´t have the EU to help them. In Spain we have a similar case with Catalonia, they want the independence, but Spain doesn´t want to give it to them, and in my opinion Spain is doing well because I don´t think that Catalonia has all the necessary resources to do all the things alone.

NATURE could be the solution

Nature can be the solution of some illness because when you are with nature you can feel very relaxed, you can forget all the everyday problems, problems about work, about your studies... And for these reasons being surruonded by the nature can be the solution to some mental problems.
When you are stressed, for example you can go for a walk in a forest, have a look at all the trees, or you can go to the beach to swim or to see  the sea  waves of the sea, and these actions can help you with the stress and for a moment you can feel free and very well, and these actions are also called ecotherapy.
Ecotherapy is the different activities that you can do related with the nature, from climbing, hiking until activities that you can do in your house as gardening, and as I have just said, these activities can help you with some mental problems.
In my opinion ecotherapy is a good therapy to these problems and it makes people appreciate more the nature and to take more care of the nature. And sometimes I go to the beach to see the waves and to throw some stones into the water because it calms me down and I forget all my problems.

Differences between now and your first year at the secondary school

I´m going to write about the differences between now and my first year in the secondary school. When I started in the secondary school I used to wake up at half past six because I was afraid of missing the bus, but now I don´t wake up at half past six anylonger. Now I wake up at seven o´clock and I have time to get the bus.

An other difference is about the exams, in my first year the exams were easier than now, but I used to feel nervous because I didn´t know what the exams were like in the secondary school. Now I don´t feel as nervous as the first year anymore, because now I know how to study well and I feel less nervous.

The final difference that I´m going to talk about is the difference about how I felt when I come to class, in my first year I was afraid of going because I only knew some of my partners, but now I don´t feel afraid anylonger because  now I know all my partners.   

Dickens & Christmas

In my opinion the book of Christmas Carol is an interesting and an amaizing book, because it tells us a beautiful story about a mean old man.
In this story you can see a progress in this mean old man from the start of the story until the finish of the story, and you can see that some people change quickly when they see the consequence of his actions and he feels sorry for all the actions he did in the past. As he realises the consequence of his actions he can make a change in his life and he begins to behave well with everybody.

The writer of the book of Christmas Carol is Charles Dickens he was an English writer and he created some of the world's best-known fictional characters and is regarded by many as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era.His works enjoyed unprecedented popularity during his lifetime, critics and scholars have recognised him as a literary genius.
In my opinion I don´t like the first films of Christmas Carol, but the newest films are in my opinion more interesting and better made than the others. But I prefer, in this case, the book because I think that it tells the story in a more simple and better way than the films.

It is not just climate change, IT IS CLIMATIC EMERGENCY!!!

Nowadays in our lives there are too many problems and we take care about these different types of problems, but there is a serious problem and that is climate change, and there are some people that they don´t take care about this problem or even they say that the climate change doesn´t exist.
And it is a big problem because if we don´t stop climate change the world won´t survive for the next generations, or even in our generation we will be affected by some seious problems, and this is the thing that some people don´t see, they only think about themselves and don´t think about their children or their grandchildren.
Nowadays we use too much the car, we use too much plastic and we don´t recicle much plastic, paper or glass, we produce too much CO2 with the factories, and for these things we need to produce fewer things in factories, use public transport and recycle all types of material, and in my opinion doing these things and others we can reduce too much emission of CO2 and we can stop the climate change.

Nowadays there are people who think that Christmas is a humbug, but also there are people who think that Christmas is the best time of the year.
I like Christmas because I like decorating my house and because I like going for  dinner to my grandmother´s house on Christmas Eve and all my cousins and my uncles are there, and we spend a good time in family.
After having dinner we stay in the living room and we usually watch television or we see a film, and for this reason I like Christmas because all the year I remember this good time. While we are watching a film we usually give the presents to each other and we open all the presents.
In my opinion Christmas is the best time in the year for the reasons that I just given you before and because it is the only time in the year when I see my cousin because he is working all the year and he can't come to see us.

This year in Christmas day I am  going to visit my aunt with my relatives and and we are going to give presents to each other because this year we didn´t have dinner on Christmas Eve with her. Other years we used to have meal with her on Christmas Eve and after dinner we gave presentsto each other, but this year we have dinner with my grandma.
After giving each other presents I´m going to go to Velez with my parents and we are going to see Velez castle and we will go to some viewpoint which we can see all the town from . How beautiful it was!
In my house we usually put the presents below the Christmas tree and in Christmas day we pick them and we open all the presents, I usually only get presents for Santa Claus and I don´t get for the Three Wise Men, because the school starts the next day.
In my opinion Christmas is the best time in the year and we need to enjoy these Christmas days , and we have to give presents to all your dear people, and to spend time with them.
